Not directly, but indirectly. I am not sure if you have gone to school in the US; if you have, then recall the holidays when there would be vendors in the halls so that you were able to buy a gift for your parents. Also, candy that you would sell to receive a gift or a prize.

My three older children would bring small trinkets from school during the holidays, and I recall doing the same when I was in grammar school.

Schools do teach you to spend and teach us to work for others. I am sure you didn't miss it; you perhaps don't recall.
